Bidding for 5G wireless spectrum in the telecom industry's most expensive auction has reached $78.5 billion amid speculation over how much Verizon Communications, AT&T, T-Mobile US, and others will wind up spending. The Federal Communications Commission's auction of mid-band or "C-band" airwaves has pressured Verizon stock as well as shares of other telecoms.
