How early? Did they say what Gleason grade you're at? If it's less than 5 when they caught it, the prognosis is way better ... typically full recovery.
There are several things that tell you how good/bad prostate cancer is. If the doctor found it with the finger waive, it means the tumor is "palpable," larger than if it was only found because of an elevated PSA (blood test). Ask him what the Stage is AND the Gleason score. Together those things tell you a lot more than descriptive stuff like "it's early."
