Aegis Alarm connecting to Crestron Automation system

Nov 14, 2005 1 Replies

I have a vendor that is spec'ing an Aegis alarm system for a 8MM home which will be connected to a Crestron automation system. We are hearing from other vendors that Aegis is not the same caliber as more mature alarm systems such as those from GE and that they are not worthy of consideration for such an expensive home, and that they will not integrate as well as the GE alarms with the Crestron equipment. Does anyone have any opinions concerning this equipment or Aegis.

Thanks,

Roveer

If the Aegis they have in mind is what I think it is, don't worry. That's a different version of the HAI Omni series controllers which are good automation and decent security systems. IMO the ELK Products M1G is a better choice because it can take analog (variable voltage) as well as digital inputs. Elk's ELK-M1XSP serial port expander is compatible with Crestron.

For basic security the Aegis is OK. Here's a link to information on Aegis' security capabilities.
