Symantec Liveupdate - can it be switched off permanently?

Feb 04, 2006 5 Replies

Despite attempts on my part to switch off liveupdate from the options menu of Norton Security, it keeps switching itself back on.

I do a lot of video and DVD work. Programs popping up in the background cause frames to be dropped.

Can Liveupdate be switched off PERMANENTLY or do I need to use a different firewall?

Thanks.

Which Nnorton Security Suite you are using in your machine.

I hope for you, that you will manage to get rid of this Symantec trash. Many people in the past had the problem, that the uninstall does not work at all.

You don't need such a "Security Suite", BTW. Better use the Windows-Firewall.

The best way to stop Liveupdate is to uninstall the program. I suggest going to Symantec and downloading their article so that you can go around and clean up all the junk it will leave on your system after uninstall.

The Norton products are so invasive that the best thing to do is just reformat.
