Question about Sonicwall Remote management

Jun 23, 2005 4 Replies

Yes there is a way. One word of caution, though. You should make sure that your password is very strong, obviously. If you log into the SonicWALL web management interface, on the Administration screen under the System heading, there are Web Management settings. You can specify whether you want to log in using HTTP of HTTPS and you can also specify which port to use.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes. Can be easily done. However you should really do it via https, not http.

We are thinking of putting 5 SonicWall TZ 170 firewalls at some branches. I have administered SonicWalls in our office through HTTP on the LAN side. Is there a way that I can manage these remote offices via HTTP through the WAN side? I know sonicwall offers their GMS, but I think that is over kill for the number of units I have.

Any advise is greatly appreciated!

You could just build a site to site VPN to each, and allow only management traffic.

Thank you very much for the excellent advise!
