Why do I keep 'losing' my wireless printer?

I have a small home network: laptop, Linksys WAG160n router, and Epson SX600F wireless printer.I rarely turn off my laptop (just shut the lid and put it to sleep) and never turn off the printer or the router (unless I'm going away).At least two or three times a week, however, I 'lose' the printer from the network and the only way I can get it back is by re-booting the router. Turning the printer off and back on does not help. The printer is in the same room as the router and so signal strength is not an issue.So why does the printer keep vanishing from the network?Ret.

Raspberry Pi ZeroW as a WiFi Router

Has anyone used a Raspberry Pi ZeroW (or another Pi, plus a USB WiFiadapter) as a WiFi router?As my existing WiFi router already connects to the internet using aUSB mobile broadband modem, this might suit me more than most people,but there is an OpenWrt image for the Raspbery Pi: cause for looking down this path is that I want to set up a HTTPSto HTTP proxy on the router to serve all HTTPS connections tocomputers on my local network via unencrypted HTTP. This is becauseall the stupid websites forcing HTTPS (when it isn't needed) aremaking it difficult to keep all the software on my various computerscompatible with the various and ever-changing encryption protocolsrequired.Currently I'm using a Netgear DGN2200 router, with OpenWrt installed.However for starters there insn't enough Flash storage space (8MB) toinstall all the software required to run the proxy, and beyond thatit's doubtful that the 32MB RAM and 300MHz CPU would be able todo the job without slowing everything down....

Ethernet Performance Testing and throughput

Hi, can someone please give some background on ethernet performancetesting and throughput measurement applications like netperf, ttcp andif there are any limitations/disadvantages associated with testingusing these applications. I recall using netperf to test my LAN and Ihad pretty good performance but haven't been able to achieve the sameusing FTP or windows copy.Secondly are these applications good for measuring throughput on aethernet WAN circuit.What is the acceptable throughput on a 100Mb WAN circuit and whatwould be the limitation if any factors on such a circuit? (For eg: isPropogation delay, distance etc a consideration and are there anyothers)Thanks

X10 switches - using ground instead of neutral

I read an article that says you can substitute ground forneutral when wiring an x10 switch. Something tells me if thisworkaround was a good idea I'd have heard more about it. Commentsanyone?

Updating X-10 Home Automation

I have been using X-10 with a CP290 Interface for almost 19 years.It's worked very well for me, for the most part. I use it to controlall the lights inside and outside my home. I had problems in the pastwith some of the devices failing, but, thanks to this forum, arecommendation for a simple Repeater plugged into my dryer outletsolved that problem.Now I'm getting more failures, not bad, but devices not working, orcoming on, but not dimming, at times, like they are programmed. I wasthinking it's time now to look for something more updated. Besides, myold pc with the serial port and Windows 98 isn't going to be aroundmuch longer, so my trusty CP290 will be forced into retirement. I stayed with the X-10's as they were inexpensive, simple to program,and for the most part, reliable. My question now is what is the bestsystem to move up to to replace my X-10's? I only have about 10devices in service now, inside and out, more with the holidays comingup, but all are controlling house lighting....

I tried to get hold of you for quite some time today via the phone...I needed apci-mini and some other stuff. Since I couldn't get hold of you today, I pickedone up elsewhere :-(.  Hopefully we cross paths at some point :-). I need tosetup camera's?so I do need further assistance regarding purchases.I've got a GEM-P9600.  Went to change the time using the keypad...in short,ended up disabling the entire alarm panel. DUH  All zones are altered, nothingis recognized and the two additional keypads are now obviously not in thesystem.  That's what you get when you use the 6 digit master code via thekeypad?lol?so now I have to re-program the setup via laptop?almost impossible to do viathe keypad!!We are going to need a few cameras and other items.  I hope to get hold of youwithin the next day or so for a few additional items.? Do you have at least an e-mail address, I didn't notice one from your site?Once I connect the laptop?I've never used quickloader for windows?I hope it is abit easier to...
