We have two 3825s, and I'm struggling to get them to talk to each other. Interface GigabitEthernet0/0/0 (A HWIC-1GE-SFP with a
1000Base-T SFP) on each router is connected to the other with a tested straight cable - changing it to crossover makes no difference.
router1: interface GigabitEthernet0/0/0 description Connection to router2 ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.252 negotiation auto
router2: interface GigabitEthernet0/0/0 description Connection to router1 ip address 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.252 negotiation auto
And a bit of output showing the line is up:
router1#show ip interface brief | include 0/0/0 GigabitEthernet0/0/0 10.0.0.1 YES manual up down
router2#show ip interface brief | include 0/0/0 GigabitEthernet0/0/0 10.0.0.2 YES manual up down
Now the problem - neither router can ping each other, and even though I believe these should show up as connected routes, they do not:
router2#show ip route | include 10.0.0 router2#
router1#show ip route | include 10.0.0 router1#
Can anyone let me know if there's anything else I can provide that will help, or ideally tell me what I'm doing wrong?

First, I think you need a crossover (unless its a switch module in the router). Second, have you tried hard-setting the speed/duplex?

As above, I've tried both a crossover and a straight cable. The interfaces should be able to do Auto MDIX so work with a straight cable.
The speed/duplex can't be hard set on the HWIC-1GE-SFP - both are set to negotiation auto by requirement.

Did you reboot after installing the SFPs per the Cisco documentation? I'm still looking on the config side as well.

Your situation is inter chassis, not intra, but it does mention the SFPs on the 3800 series. Still looking.....

It was under the 'cabling' portion. Makes no sense why you would need to do that while cabling, but not during install, but whatever, just pointing it out in case it was our gotcha. Other than the media-type command, I'm baffled as to what else you would need. Any similar commands under the g0/0/0 config mode? Anything else stand out about connection, format, media type, or anything? I hate asking this, but sure we are using port 0 and not port 3 or the other end? Grasping at straws as you can see.....

Ah I see it. Looks like it's a caveat to avoid lasering yourself in the eyes! But no, they haven't been rebooted since plugging the cable in. I'll try that, but one of the routers is going to have to wait until the (UK) small hours since it's currently doing just fine on its other interfaces!

is still worrying me. That should say something about rj45 or something from my experience. I don't have a 3825 with that same module, but I am looking at a 3845 with its onboard nics, and it definitely says type rj45. Hopefully someone else on these boards can pinpoint what we are missing, but its something simple at layer 1 or a base config line I would suspect.
