PIX 8.0 and ASDM - not enough flash space

Aug 27, 2007 2 Replies

A customer's PIX 525 was upgraded to 8.0(2), because the customer needs IPv6 with multiple contexts (and the failover option). Unfortunly the ADSM for the customers self-managed context can not be stored on the Flash anymore:

# sh ver [...] Hardware: PIX-525, 128 MB RAM, CPU Pentium III 600 MHz Flash E28F128J3 @ 0xfff00000, 16MB BIOS Flash AM29F400B @ 0xfffd8000, 32KB

16128000 bytes total (8639488 bytes free)

The ASDM is 5919340 bytes, but

# cop tftp://217.17.x.y/asdm-502.bin flash: Accessing tftp://217.17.x.y/asdm-502.bin...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! %Error copying tftp://217.17.x.y/asdm-502.bin (Not enough space on device)

What can I do?

A "squeeze" Command does not longer exists.

hi Lutz,

First of all please note that for PIX 8.0.2 you need ASDM 6.0.2, not

5.0.2.

6.0.2 is bigger so you will probably still have the same problem, I would suggest trying "fsck flash:", if that doesn't help "format flash:" (this will erase all your files, obviously). Or open a TAC case if you can, looks like it might be CSCsc30079 (not fixed yet).

Joske

*Argl* Of course.

Does not help. Problem persists.

Yep, that's the next try. But I'll not do this without a competent partner near by the system if the power fails exactly in this minute. Murphy is everywhere.

Thank you.
