NTP update intervall setting for cat 3500xl / 3550 open original image

hi ng,

i'm not sure how often my cisco 3500XL/3550 will update there time based on following config:

clock timezone XXY 2 ntp server IP_ADRESS

where can i specify the interval how often they will check the time and sync. thanks for youre hints colin

You can't manually change NTP's polling rates. The protocol has an adaptive algorithm that automatically adjusts the polling interval.

NTP is very efficient. It actively monitors all aspects of network timing to adjust its configuration accordingly. As soon as you configure NTP on your switch, it sets its cycle to poll about once every 64 seconds. As the local clock becomes synchronized and stable, the switch will adaptively back off the poll cycle to a maximum of 1024 seconds (about 17 minutes)
