I am eager to know how a packet gets forwarded on a L2/L3 switch. Came to know that there is an L2/L3 lookup table in fwd path, but I would specifically like to know how an IP packet gets fwd. Does a L2 table lookup happen for a IP packet. If not for what kind of packets does L2 table lookup happen in a multilayer switch.
