Network Planning Project Manager Department: Network Planning and Implementation Reports To: Director, Network Planning and Implementation Scope:

The Network Planning Project Manager must be capable of multi tasking since they are responsible to manage multiple projects assigned into their queue. Management of the projects consists of designing a plan, which details the hardware required and defining all steps required in completing a project. This also includes raising capital request=FDs for hardware to support the project and all required interfacing with multiple vendors to make sure the hardware or circuit is delivered properly. They are also required to support the project until its completion and it is handed off to the operations staff. After the hand off their responsibility becomes second level support for this design. Education:

BS in Telecommunications or Information Systems Management or Business Communications Management or related proven 5 years experience in Network engineering. Work Experience Required:

=B7 Minimum five (5) years experience with Layer-3 Network design with a strong working knowledge of router protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP) and architecture designs (Cisco, Northern Telecom).

=B7 Minimum five (5) years experience working with network carrier inside plant and outside plant engineering groups on large-scale projects, including testing and equipment termination knowledge. This knowledge should include a strong background with optical (OC-48, OC-192) carrier network topology and design.

=B7 Strong working knowledge of Cisco routers and the TCP/IP protocols associated with a Cisco network.

=B7 Minimum five (5) years experience working with Network Wan layer-2 designs such as Frame Relay, ATM, TDM delivery architectures and have a strong knowledge of testing and fault isolation procedures.

=B7 Strong Knowledge of LAN and WAN protocol analyzers and their capability=FDs of filtering and fault isolation test techniques.

=B7 Minimum five (5) years of experience with responsibilities in data center operations and design relating to all aspects of Network Communications. Must have a strong knowledge of test equipment standards used in the industry.

=B7 Minimum five (5) years experience working with International carriers and the communications standards and delivery methods associated with such designs.

=B7 Minimum five (5) years=FD experience in project management role of large scale projects, this requires a strong working knowledge of Visio, Excel and project tracking software.

=B7 Strong background in working with hardware vendors and the associated responsibility of providing equipment analysis when accepting new hardware.

Skill Required: =B7 Hands on working knowledge of telecommunications architecture, with the capability of fault isolations and second level support. =B7 Strong verbal and communications skills including the capability of providing a presentation overview on assigned projects. =B7 Strong project management skills which include the capability of providing accurate and detailed status=FDs on projects as they are proceeding from concept to completion. =B7 Excellent organizational and planning skills. Ability to write clearly, communicate effectively and interface with various levels of an organization. =B7 Software knowledge must include; MS Project, (project management) MS Office; (Excel spreadsheet), (Word for Windows) and Visio graphics software. =B7 Working knowledge of network monitoring and trend analysis methods for tracking established thresholds through out the network to be reactive and proactive. =B7 Negotiation skills for the purpose of building internal and external partnerships, familiar with contract management (telecommunicatoins carriers, software and hardware and license compliance).

Responsibilities: =B7 Oversee the design and implementation of all projects assigned , this includes the tracking of equipment, outside implementation support and all associated vendor delivery time scales. Work with all such vendors to make sure that the project is completed in a cost effective and timely manner.

Track and document access designs for each carrier at the data center assigned to the project manager. This includes updating existing detailed documentation, which is shared by all project mangers in the group. Proper and timely notification when exceeding capacity thresholds on the company domestic network. This includes an analysis of the situation and then a follow up with a corrective action plan. =B7 Release detailed project plans to the out lying regional data centers. Plans should include a complete detail of work required for each step of the implementation. It should also include a list of all hardware and equipment programming along with responsibility of each party involved in the implementation. =B7 Provide technical second level support to all operational staff on networks that have been installed and released to the operations group. This may include telephone or on site support determined by the severity of the problem. =B7 Represent company Network Planning at all carrier or hardware vendor service meetings or during escalations due to problems associated with each provider. =B7 Ensure a strong and consistent communication with company's Data center operations staff keeping them informed on all projects that involve the data center. =B7 Continually analyze potential opportunities for cost saving=FDs and network improvements which may develop into cost efficiencies for the overall network.
