1800 Router Internet not working after power failure

Last night and for the second time in 2 weeks we had a power failure in the office. When the power comes back on all our devices will power backup, the 1800 is no exception. The problem is that when the power comes back up the Router does not connect to the internet nor can i telnet to it via a terminal or network connection. The only way to connect to the internet or the router is to cycle the power again. Is there anything i can do. This will not work since someone would have to come into the office everytime there is a power outage and the router is on a UPS.

thanks

I do not see any issue with info posted.

The showversion info got clipped. Exactly which 12.4 IOS version is on the router.

Perhaps try posting the show version info again

When you say you say you cannot telnet to the router - which address are you trying to telnet to ?

The next time this happens get on the console and see what the situation is with the router in general and all of the router interfaces - are they in up and up state, can you ping them etc, etc, check for any error message etc.

Also try ping the ISP's upsteam address to see if it is reachable

increase the logging size so that you can check for error messages there and disable console logging (best practice)

logging buffer 20000 debug no logging console

I tried to telnet to both internal and external address's with no luck. I also tried using hyperterminal to connect directly to it but had no luck. Like i said the only way to get it to work was to cycle the power.

If the router was powered on and would not respond to console input then you may have a faulty router.

Is the router still under warranty or do you have a SmartNet support contract for it ? If so I would open a case with the Cisco TAC.

You might also want to consider upgrade to a higher maintenance release of 12.4

You are a 1c and 17a is now released
