We're trying an experiment: the use MeetUp to organize a CCNA self-study group. MeetUp provides a 'free' web service to help groups meet face-to-face. Rather than reinventing a web site to support a local group, MeetUp provides a well developed, no or low-cost approach to organizing our self-study group:

Last year, I was active in several political campaigns that used MeetUp and was impressed. For a self-study group, all that is needed is a reasonable place to meet, low cost and if possible, with wireless.Bob Wilson
