Interesting. I purchased a SB5100 when I first got cable service in mid 2003 for about 60 bucks. Since it saves $5/month rental fee, I'm ahead of the game no matter what. I've been really pleased with the modem and it's been pretty much trouble free. I don't think the DOCSIS 2.0 is that big a deal, but if my provider requires it in the future for some reason, it's there. Surprisingly Amazon today charges more for the same modem than what they sold it to me almost
