How to list all devices on the Windows or Linux home network

I suggested other options on nmap to try. See what, if anything, is responding to network on those machines.

If you know the IP address of the apple device does "arping" on that IP get a response from it (I'm asking because I can't test that here)

If I were an intruder and could see the target IP network addresses, I'd use a fixed IP for that very reason of lower visibility. Part of the reason I use my iDevice and Fing to explore my own network when I feel the need.
