I continually seem to be losing connection with the isp from my Netgear Router DG834G. My router logs display the following messages:

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the issue? Is tesco.net down or is my router playing up? The router is running firmware V3.01.25.

On some occasions the connection lasts for hours.

Some further settings:

Multiplexing Method : VC-Based VPI : 0 VCI : 38 Using WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) No firewall rules MTU is 1458 Not setup to respond to ping on internet WAN port

ISP issue/Connection issue/line loss issue. Certainly nothing to do with wireless.

When it's up, you might want to see what the downstream line loss is if the router reports that. BT used to only support their 512kbps service at something like -67dB and the 1 or 2Mbps service at something like -

53dB.

I used to run a 2Mbps service quite happily in the -40dB range though and from what I could glean, the US folk run to much closer tolerances than that. BT played very very safe in the beginning.

My numbers could be a bit off but that's the ballpark they were on. If you can get that info then compare, if not then try an ADSL newsgroup.

David.
