need to by wireless router. Get N or not?

Question

Hi all....I'm having cable Internet hooked up at my house Sat.This is a "light" version of access that costs less...so speed probably wont be a barn buster or anything.Having said that.... I've not kept up on the newprotocols for wireless..... should one go ahead and paypremium dollars for an N router even if the laptop maynot have an N capable receiver?If yes.... what units can you recommend for good bangfor buck?  I'm unemployed full time college student so cost is anissue.

802.11n is not even a standard and will buy you nothing unless everything is 802.11n. 802.11g is easily faster than a typical household Internet connection.

802.11n might be useful if you were going to stream video (or some other really high BW application) between devices attached to your wireless network. Otherwise it is of little value for you.dave
