I could see putting it on the 5.8GHZ band. There can't be 4 billion users on that band.
Whatever investment AT$T has in hotspots must have been depreciated years ago. It isn't like they went in the hotspot biz yesterday.
If it is going to screw up the 2.4GHz band, then just say no.
