[Telecom] more on 911 foulup

Here is a link to a newspaper article describing the problem.

They seem to blame it on the dispatcher for not verifying the address, but they suggested their database might not be up-to-date as well.

Also it seems once the error was discovered it took too long to resolve.

I don't understand why the person didn't use his landline phone instead of his cellphone, unless he was unable to get up and his cellphone was the nearest thing at hand. I would only use my cellphone to call 911 as a last resort.

Maybe some other readers could make more sense out of it. Thanks.

My big worry with modern 911 centers are database problems; where addresses are not properly defined, errorneous, or just out of date.
