I'm sure the same thing will happen here, as the Town of Apple Valley has decided to award a second cable franchise to Verizon.

The chances of me using Verizon for anything other than POTS are less than nil, given the availability of Charter broadband in AV (which has been quite reliable over the past two years), and the suckage level of Verizon DSL, but it'll be interesting to see if Charter raises a fuss about Verizon entering the market, anyhow.
