BELMAR, NJ —Hundreds of residents gathered at the Taylor Pavilion Monday night to express their concerns about Verizon’s plan to construct 20, 5G cell towers along Belmar’s boardwalk.

The plans for the 20 towers come after an August 2022 settlement following litigation between Verizon and Belmar. According to the settlement, 20 “Small Wireless Facilities,” will be implemented on streetlights at each block along the beach. The lawsuit also states that the “street light(s) shall be at Verizon’s cost, but the electricity, maintenance, and repair of the street light shall be at the Borough’s cost and expense.”
