This is a bit off-topic, but given the technological background of many readers here, I felt it would be of interest.
There used to be a company in Chicago, Allied Electronics, that published a thick catalog. Copies are available on bitsavers. The 1961 edition is linked to below. (It does have a few pages on telephone intercoms, but that's beside the point.)
In 1961, the hi-fi revolution was in full swing, with many pages devoted to hi-fi equipment. Back then hi-fi was a big status symbol in the suburbs, with many people getting a huge expensive system 'cause it looked cool, not that they appreciated the sound out of it. Lots of electronics stores opened up in the suburbs with "consultants" to sell and install fancy systems.
The company also sold individual components and accessories for hobbyists.
