Comcast executives Neil Smit and CEO Brian Roberts said on this morning's fourth-quarter and year-end earnings call that Comcast was looking at ways to monetize Wi-Fi/wireless that could result in a launch over the coming months.

Both Roberts and Smit declined to provide specifics on what the new Wi-Fi products or services would be. During the Q&A, Smits was asked about Cablevision's recent launch of its Freewheel Wi-Fi phone service, which lacks a cellular service as a backup connection for when a caller isn't in a Wi-Fi hotspot, and whether Comcast would offer Wi-Fi based products such as apps or a mobility service.
