Luke Shaheen answered the door of his Northeast Portland home on New Year's Eve to what sounded like a great offer: A salesperson from CenturyLink was offering superfast internet service and a landline phone for $55 a month -- $10 less than what his family was paying to Comcast.
CenturyLink arrived to install the service 10 days later, and everything worked great 'til the bill came: It was $119.32, Shaheen said, more than double what he said CenturyLink had promised. Nearly two months later, he said, the bills are still coming -- all higher than expected.
