Article notes that long distance within same area code can cost 8 to
12 cents a minute. As far as *I* can tell, the above warning is the same as what I have seen in the front section of the Northeastern Maryland phone book, where police and other public-service telephone numbers are listed with the advice that some of those calls may be toll.
