I am interested in understanding this groups opinion on the benefits of using a firewall appliance (i.e.:NetScreen or Checkpoint) to firewall IP multicast traffic vs. using a router ACL to control group memberships, etc.
I personally don't see a major difference between the two, which makes it rather challenging to justify the need for the extra spend when I could very well have my router provide the same 'protection'. It would be great to hear your feedback and/or comments.
