priority tagged frames

Oct 05, 2011 0 Replies

Hello

I hear that priority-tagged frames, i.e. frames having 0x8100 ethertype AND valan id equal to 0, are considered untagged from the VLAN-aware bridge perspective. however I could find exact wording on this in the standard

802.1q-2005. Could anyone help me with this and point at the section/paragraph discussing this?

Also, am I right that a vlan-aware bridge makes a decision whether teh frame is tagged or untagged, solely on TPID field value and doesn't take into consideration vlan id vallue (priority tagged frames are the only exception) ?

Thanks!

Mark
