Hello, I have a VPN between a Sonicwall and a CISCO 871W ( hate Sonicwall...).
When I ping a host from the Sonicwall side to the CISCO side I get pings like this: Request timed out. Reply from 192.168.13.4: bytes=32 time=78ms TTL=254 Request timed out. Reply from 192.168.13.4: bytes=32 time=31ms TTL=254 Request timed out. Reply from 192.168.13.4: bytes=32 time=62ms TTL=254 Request timed out. Reply from 192.168.13.4: bytes=32 time=53ms TTL=254 Request timed out. Reply from 192.168.13.4: bytes=32 time=77ms TTL=254 Request timed out. Reply from 192.168.13.4: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=254 Reply from 192.168.13.4: bytes=32 time=136ms TTL=254
Ping statistics for 192.168.13.4: Packets: Sent = 13, Received = 7, Lost = 6 (46% loss),
Not too good...
Now, if I ping from the Sonicwall to the CISCO VLAN 1 interface (192.168.13.2) I get: Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=45ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=57ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=41ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=22ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=38ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=55ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=27ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=68ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=44ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.13.2: bytes=32 time=47ms TTL=255
Ping statistics for 192.168.13.2: Packets: Sent = 13, Received = 13, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
MUCH better! So, what could be causing the odd ping times to the hosts on the network? Is it the Sonicwall? The CISCO? The cabling? The switch?
Thanks, Scott
