is-is redistribution question:

howdy ya'll ..

reading about isis for my bsci exam ... the text is talking about isis route summarization.

the example used is;

loopback1 --> 3.3.3.3/32 loopback2--> 3.3.3.4/32 loopback3--> 122.122.122.122 /32

loopback 1 and 2 have "ip route isis" configuration as well, enabling participation in ISIS routing. loopback 3 does not.

in the isis configuration we have :

router isis net 49.001.0000.0000.0001.00 summary-address 122.122.122.0 255.255.255.0 level-1 summary-address 3.3.3.0 255.255.255.0 level-1 redistribute connected level-1 is-type level-1

this is where Im kind of wondering what is happening. is the command "redistribute connected level-1" means, redistribute connected interfaces NOT participating in ISIS ? or does it mean redistribute connected interfaces whether they are participating or not ?

thanks,

Redistribute connected will address interfaces which are not part of the 'native isis' config statements......
