Airlink 10dBi Omni-Directional Antenna for $9.99 in current Frys ad

I own one. It sucks. Of course, mine could be defective, but I doubt it. The "wrong" biquad works much better. The Airlink Omni worked about as well as the antenna built in my SMC card.

Which reminds me, I should get around to building the right biquad....

Much depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If all that's needed is gain, then the Airlink may be a decent and cost-effective solution. But if part of your problem is interference, then an omni probably won't help, because it tends to amplify interference along with the desired signal. By comparison, a directional antenna will tend to reject interference that's not in line with the desired signal. That's probably why your biquad, a directional antenna, worked better for you than the omni. If so, *any* omni would probably be the same.
