History: Early microwave long distance network [telecom]

In January 1946, Popular Mechanics magazine ran a detailed illustrated article describing the Bell System's proposed microwave long distance network. It includes a description of the operation of the microwave towers (transmitters and receivers) as well as the new toll dial switching system.
