When it's time to buy a beer or a sandwich or rent a headset, American Airlines passengers can now say, "Charge it." American last week began rolling out a new service letting passengers use American Express and other credit and debit cards to pay for in-flight purchases. American, the biggest carrier at Boston's Logan International Airport by passenger volume, expects the technology, which relies on wireless handheld devices toted by flight attendants, will be available systemwide by the middle of next month.
