Rolling codes

The battery in my remote failed, and I took it out to purchase a new one. A few days later, I installed the new battery, and the LED in the remote lights, but without any response from the car's alarm system. The other remote works fine, so it is not the car alarm. Any ideas? The alarm is a Viper 550 ESP, and the remote says on the back 2^66 rolling codes. Are the rolling codes out of sync with the car? How do I resync it?
