New Darwin award candidate (fast track) [telecom]

CNN reported that a man was electrocuted, and his wife severely burned, while he allegedly attempted to steal copper from a vacant building.

... which leads me to ask: doesn't anyone use a voltmeter anymore? If I was of a mind to liberate base metals from their owners, I'd consider an HV probe to be a basic part of my toolket.

Then again, I'm not eager to receive the Darwin award.
