Scam alert: NYPD warns about Verizon Wireless hoax [telecom]

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The NYPD is warning residents of a scam with a caller claiming to be from Verizon Wireless.

The 123rd Precinct posted to their Twitter feed on Tuesday, concerning the scam alert.

The post warns customers to be cautious when receiving an official sounding call from a recording claiming to be Verizon.
