I have a question concerning bgp multihop. I have a dual homed( Both peers reside with the same isp) bgp v4 configuration on a 7206 with the following statement: neighbor ebgp-multihop 255. The two peers reside reside on the same isp's network. I thought the purpose of using bgp multihop was if the two external peer networks were not directly connected. Would multihop be needed in this case.

EBGP peers on directly connected networks do not require ebgp-multihop to be configured.
While you looking into this matter you might want to have a peek at "BGP Support for TTL Security Check"
