11n certification

I notice that the WiFi Alliance has commenced testing of 11n devices and changed their logos.

One of the comments that surprised me was:-

"The updated Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n program maintains the requirements of the draft 2.0 program and adds testing for some new optional features, including:

  • Channel coexistence measures for "good neighbor" behavior when using 40 MHz operation in the 2.4 GHz band"

I presume from that statement there are a lot of draft n devices which have not been tested for coexistence and possibly are not capable of providing "good neighbour" behaviour. Seems as though I cannot assume that 11n 2.4GHz devices will automatically switch to 20MHz channels when "G" AP's are within range.
