weak/marginal connection, any settings that can make it more reliable?

Trying to connect with a wifi and getting a very weak signal. Already did the directional antenna thing, helps but not quite enough. Are there any settings in the wifi manager box I can change to trade say connection speed for better reliability of connection? I'm already at the high power setting. Reducing connection speed doesn't seem to help or hurt, so I left it at "auto". It's a Hawking desk top card connected to a Hawking corner reflector antenna with extra reflectors added to it.

Your only real hope is a better antenna and/or better location, and it's going to be hard to beat your Hawking 15dBi Corner Antenna by enough to matter without changing the location. How about:

  1. Wired Ethernet connection to a wired Ethernet bridge (possibly with Power over Ethernet) in some other location?
  2. Wireless repeater in some other location?
