IoIP IP Intercoms

Have seen IP based intercoms from Digital Acoustics, basic Push-To-Talk that run over LAN and Ethernet, but also connect over the internet. They do not call themselves voIP but rather IoIP (intercom over IP) and are essentially an internet walkie-talkie

Does anyone have any knowledge or thoyghts on this?
