Linksys BEFSR 41 - static ip?

HI Folks

I have to install Oracle at home and so far it is no go as I have a dynamic IP.

Can anyone tell me if the Linksys BEFSR 41 would allow me to fake a static IP?

Thanks for any help networking is not my area

Most home routers use 192.168.0.100+ for DHCP. You can force your computer to an unused address, such as 192.168.0.50. You will also need to set up your DNS and Gateway address. The gateway would be your router, typically 192.168.0.1. You can find out what DNS addresses your router uses, or just set it to the router's address (192.168.0.1), and it will pass it on.

From a command prompt, you can do an "IPCONFIG /ALL" to see what your current settings are so you know your router's address and maybe DNS it uses if it passes them on (my related BEFSX41 usually set it to the router when the computer booted up, but would pass on the real addresses if I did an IPCONFIG /release, then /renew.)
