How to get DSL settings from Siemens SpeedStream 4100 DSL modem? Is there a way get(download and preview) DSL configuration settings from this modem? Modem comes preconfigured by provider.

Connect a computer to the modem. Turn on modem Turn on computer Use a browser to open http://192.168.0.1 Click on Advanced. (you then have lots of things to look at)

Are you asking about the router rather than the modem? The address of the router is http://speedstream

Its called "SpeedSream 4100 Ethernet ADSL modem" From User's Guide: "=2E..enter the default router IP address http://speedstream and press Enter" This opens Siemens subscriber network page, but there are no any admin "gateway administrator setup" window.

Assuming that you rebooted your PC after installing the 4100 and you can connect to the internet, I am stumped as to why the HTTP server inside the 4100 is not recognizing http://speedstream as a valid address.

You can try this. It will turn off the search engine in the location bar.

Enter about:config in the location bar. In the filter bar enter the word "keyword" without the quotes. You should get two hits. The first one keyword.url tells you which search engine and what parameters are being used any time you enter something other than a valid address in the location bar. The second hit keyword.enabled turns the engine on or off. The value is probably set to true. Double click the entry and the value will change to false. Close Firefox. Relaunch FF and try http://speedstream again.

You can change the setting back to true by repeating the above.

All this not help. The same result. What i can assume: ISP/DSL provider may reconfigure modem, so it not connect to default manufacturer gateway anymore. This modem comes to user already preconfigured, so user just connect cables, etc. Since DSL provider is a monopolist, he does not provide any tech information at all, and requires to use only a model which he sells. I have another modem and I want connect it to DSL, but I need know existing DSL parameters to configure DSL settings properly, and I need obtain this parameters from existing SpeedSream

4100 ADSL modem in some way. What is way to extract and view information about existing DSL settings?

If you post to this newsgroup the name of your ISP and where you are located, someone may be able to tell you the settings you want.
