Please log in for more thread options A recent visit to my sisters.. She has earthlink dsl service. Zyxel prestige modem directly connected to her WinXp box via ethernet. She fires up an earthlink dialer program that "connects" her to the web, and her PC gets assigned a publicly routable Ip Address. She'd like a 2nd PC to use the web. I'd typically drop a little netgear in there and let her PC's dhcp into a RFC1918 address and let the netgear do NAT. But what does the dialer app do to authenticate that may get in my way? Thanks, Mike

I'd be surprised if it wasn't a pppoe login. The router should be able to do the same. -- http://yosemitephotos.net/

As the other fellow said. Most likely PPPoE.

If possible you can remove all the Earthlink software, put in the router, and things work fine. But be prepared to get a LOT of questions from your sister if they have come to think of the "Earthlink" software as the internet. Sort of like AOL in the past.
