Wireless network problems!!

Help!!

I have just installed a Belkin 54G Wireless PCI card into my desktop (F5B7000) in order to connect to my home network.

After many frustrating attempts, it can finally "latch" on to the network (in other words, Windows says its connected). However, the Belkin sign in the toolbar is red, internet doesnt connect, and cannot find network places.

This only works if I manually assign the IP address 192.168.1.5. If auto selection is chosen, it cannot connect.

It also disconnects whenever IE is opened?

Any suggestions?

That just means associated -- it may still not be meaningfully connected (as in able to pass data).

Are you using a Belkin wireless utility, or Windows XP WZC?

That suggests that DHCP is failing.

Try turning off _all_ security on the wireless when troubleshooting, ideally by resetting the wireless router or access point to factory defaults.
