hello, i'm setting up wireless access and would like to control or set the max download speed on some but not all users connected to an access point. can this be done? any suggestions?

You mean you want to restrict the traffic volume by client. This is possible for some routers, but not many consumer-level ones. I have some vague recollection that you can do it with a Firebrick and possibly with Smoothwall.

Quite possibly. But again ,they're not consumer level kit, and you'd still need a router. So this would be an expensive option. The cheap way to do it for home use is via a linux-based firewall unit.
