Security issues with Windows managing wi-fi

i was curious if my internet is till encrypted if i don't enter my password and allow windows to manage wi-fi? I discovered if am hooked up to Intel wireless, i don't have to log on but was conccerned about security, since i have the option of choosing.

p.s. WEP is not secure even with a password. Use WPA instead.

Hello- Yes, i have entered my password before. Is there any configuration to do if i use WPA? Thanks.

The same thing applies to WPA -- you have to first set the passphrase in the wireless router, then in Windows, which will remember it for subsequent automatic connections to the wireless router or access point.

To make your passphrase secure, see The Diceware Passphrase Home Page .

Also be sure to set a _unique_ SSID in the wireless router or access point in order to avoid confusion with other nearby wireless networks.
