p2p configuration on router

Hi

I'm using a Sparkcom Wireless Modem Router to receive my broadband connection to my laptop. I have not got a software firewall running as I know this causes problems when file sharing. So I have been told, the problem is the NAT on the router that is giving me problems with download speeds on P2P. There is no information in the manual or the website about opening ports on the router. So I am resorting to a wired usb modem evrytime I want to download something from P2P until I work out how to configure the routers settings. I have even tried disabling the NAT but that causes even more problems connecting to the net. I know Sparkcom isn't a top of the range product but there must be a way of setting it to open ports.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks In Advance

Jamie
