Three major flaws in the Intel Centrino Wi-Fi device drivers have been described as horrible by a world leading security expert. The flaws will require an enormous 129 MB patch to download and install.
Of the three flaws, there is one particularly nasty hole that could allow a hacker to remotely access a PC wirelessly and transfer a worm that can repicate across wireless networks.
The chief security officer at Finnish security company F-Secure, Mikko Hypponen, points out that the size and complicated process of installing the patch will not make it straight forward for home users. Many may have to bring in professional help to have their systems upgraded.
