New Network

Hello I've got two HP laptops in my house and I'd like them to be connected to the internet wirelessly. I have a 2 Mbps DSL connection. I have a dynamic IP address. Would I need a router or an access point? What's the difference? Which brand should I be looking at? What are the step by step instructions to set up a wireless network at home?

Thanks! Sarthak

One of the 'wireless routers' that are commonplace in retail stores should do. They are both router and access point combined. (If it says it has a DHCP server, and it has antennas, you're probably good.)

I've liked Proxim and Linksys, and disliked Belkin, but my experience isn't wide.

Depends which you buy. It should work nearly out of the box, though.

And if it works "out of the box" that means that your next step is to set up as much security as you can manage with AP and clients.
