Netgear WPN824 client pptp vpn connections

We have an executive using a Netgear WPN824 wireless router at his home office.

He can not make a microsoft pptp vpn connection thru this router to the company vpn server. It appears that the wpn824 is blocking the security response back from the vpn server to his laptop.

We have reviewed all of the Netgear online KB's regarding vpn connections, the majority of which deal more with establishing permanent vpn tunnels using the netgear routers, which is not really the case here, we just need to make a temporary outbound client vpn connection thru the wpn824.

However, we have tried enabling port triggering on ports 50,51,500,1723 as discussed in the online KB's although only port 1723 ( and though unmentioned in the KB's - GRE 47 ) should be required.

Unfortunately these ports do not resolve the issue and we can find nowhere that allows us to enable the GRE protocol which is probably the issue?

Has anyone had any success with this?

We have tried the several times unsuccessfully, to use the email and phone support at Netgear.

According to another post I located, the GRE protocol is not supported on this router.

Isn't the executive sufficiently important and your time sufficiently valuable to justify a high grade wireless router that will save you endless grief? Go with SonicWALL.
