Need Wifi Antenna which is Powerful and Cheap

....

OK. You know what's up. Still, the 10dBi really should work fine over such a short distance - with clear line of sight, so I'm imagining that the real issue is that you are trying to punch through trees or something or else, as ChrisJoy says, you don't have a clear fresnel zone.

Or, you've got some significant cable loss going on with your 10dbi, such that you're only getting 5-6 dbi effective.

Instead of a high gain directional, consider a more distance appropriate backfire style antenna mounted up high to get clear line of sight and then connect it with a low loss LMR400 cable.

That should deliver a real 12+ dbi to your radio.

Another way to approach it would be to put the radio right at the antenna with one of these guys:

8 and 10 dbi don't sound like much, but you get 100% of it to your radio. And a good radio at that.

he also mentioned a patio mount or ....

So - I'm guessing it's just pointing "down the block" -

If it's sitting on the patio, then the cable has to go inside & connect to his NIC & desktop ?

plus - all that RF bouncing on the ground, etc - fresnel -

Is that the 10dBi omni?

it is, you might get enough more gain and blockage of unwanted noise and signal by adding a simple reflector.

EZ-12, printed on photo paper for thick stock, with aluminum foil glued to the sail, provides a substantial boost in signal.

Make the tabs longer than the template drawing for easier assembly.

Really, one of those Ubiquiti Nano LoCos will be perfect. Any antenna plus good cable plus pigtail will cost more and you will be more limited on length.

Just mount the LoCo2 as high and clear LOS as possible and run an cheap ethernet cable inside to your pc or router. It will come with a power injector.

It may hurt to abandon your wireless NIC in the desktop, but you'll get over it. The loco will act as the radio and the antenna.
